I have two input devices connected to my Lenovo Gaming 3 15ACH6 laptop. The first one is the integrated microphone from the laptop which has a lot of sensibility so I usually set it to 10% of its max volume. The second microphone is from a Logitech G432 headset which I set its volume to 70%. But I encountered that when I use the sound switcher that comes with the new zorin 17 and switch between input devices the volume of the microphones are reset to 100% which can be a serious problem during calls mostly with the integrated microphone.
I don't really know if it's a problem of the sound switcher or if its a problem from zorin itself.
Does anyone know how can I solve this?
I have encountered recently another problem that maybe can be or can't be related which is that after some minutes of being in a discord call the microphone stops working (that's why I switched microphones during the call) and after switching to the second microphone and switching back to the other one it starts working again. If someone finds if it can be related I would appreciate it.
If you need some outputs from the terminal or any other information let me know
A simple thing to try first is to goning in the Settings and there to the Audio Tab. There You can adjust the Volume.
Another thing is Pulse Audio Control. to install it, open the Terminal and type sudo apt install pavucontrol and after the Installation open it and go to the Input Tab and set up Your Microphone. Then test if it works.
Hi, I already try that and it keeps happening, the volume of the microphone resets to 100% when I switch between them. I configured the volume from the sound tab of the settings, and from pavucontrol but I get the same results.
Find the input channels relating to your microphones and set levels you desire.
Save that alsamixer setting using:
sudo alsactl store
I do not know if that setting will also fail and reset same as Zorin>Settings>Sound and Pulse Audio when you switch microphones. I do not know how to overcome that "feature" of Sound Switcher.
Hi, I tried that but I somehow managed to broke my sound system
All the speakers stopped working when storing the settings but I could fix it by deleting the stored file and typing:
sudo alsactl init
Then reboot the computer.
During that troubleshooting I discovered that there must be some integration error between the settings interface and the sound switcher from zorin 17. When I use the settings interface to change between sound devices and use the test button, it doesn't change the device, it still play the audio through the previous selected device. And when I switch the audio device through the sound switcher and use the same test button from the settings interface it changes "correctly" the device.
Can someone confirm if that happens on other computers or is it just mine??
