Hi, a few weeks ago, I got a new laptop, and I tried installing Zorin OS 18 on it.
At first, with an older BIOS version, it installed fine, but when I tried again after a BIOS update, I kept getting errors in the installer like: input/output error, and also copy errors.
My laptop is a Dell Latitude 5300, the BIOS version before the update was I think 1.8.0, the BIOS version after the update was I think 1.36.0
And yes, I tried re-downloading the ISO image, using different USB drivers, and even tried installing it to an external SSD, but all gave the same error.
I'm unsure about the exact problem, but if I had to guess, it might be an issue with the Zorin OS installer (Ubiquity), since Ubiquity is pretty old, its age might be the reason that I'm getting issues, maybe it's not liking the new BIOS version, I did attempt to downgrade via a setup tool, the closest version I found was 1.8.1, however that didn't work because the BIOS prevented downgrading, I could try using a BIOS file and flashing it manually but it's too risky and I don't want to brick my laptop. Also I tried other distributions that mainly used different installers, distributions that used Calamares and the modern Ubuntu installer installed fine, so I guess it is Ubiquity's fault.
I would appreciate some help.
