Hi,
I am dual-booting macOS Ventura (13) and Zorin OS Core 18 on a 2017 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro14,1, Intel, no T2). However, I had to go through manual partitioning ("Something else" as the "Installation type"). I am referring to this screen:
Image source: Manually Partition the Drive to Install Zorin OS - Zorin Help
What I did was:
- From macOS I created a partition for Zorin OS as in QA:Testcase dualboot with macOS - Fedora Project Wiki then I booted into the live ISO,
- deleted the newly created partition and mounted it as
/, - and selected the already-existing EFI partition as the "Device for boot loader installation" (albeit in retrospect I should have probably just kept it as the device, according to Manually Partition the Drive to Install Zorin OS - Zorin Help).
It would be nice if there was an "Install Zorin OS alongside macOS" option as hinted in Install Zorin OS - Zorin Help. This would be especially nice with the recent apparent EOL of macOS Ventura and inability to upgrade to a later macOS version (without OpenCore Legacy Patcher, or OCLP). Windows 10 also EOL'd and Windows 11 is not supported in Bootcamp (although there are workarounds, it seems). So I expect more and more owners of Intel Macs would soon want to try out Linux as an alternative.
tldr: how can I help get an "Install Zorin OS alongside macOS" installation option appear for future Zorin OS releases?
