No screen info was due to using KVM switch which activated keyboard but not video. added stand alone monitor and received red box notification " Invalid signature detected. Check secure boot policy in setup."
Pushed enter key and saw " No boot disk detected or the disk has failed"
What now?
Hey @Cosmopolite - Scratch the first post. Did you check secure boot as suggested?
Also, you can boot Zorin from USB and check the disk with "e2fsck -c /dev/sd??" from terminal.
Hey, jun-dee
Did not try "secure boot" since I don't know what it is.
Background: I'm 78 years old and using computers for last 25 years, DOS, Windows, know nothing about Linux, especially syntax.
Installations, so far 3, have always used USB, with Rufus 4.9, no luck with Balena. I think that problem might be with Bios or UEFI, since I could not choose. I will keep trying because I don't want Win11. Will research secure boot.
Secure Boot is part of the BIOS - your motherboard operating system.
It is independent of GnuLinux.
If you boot the computer, then proceed as your normally would to access the BIOS settings (often, tapping F12 or F10... at the motherboard splash screen), then moving to the Security
tab, you should see the option for Secure Boot - and whether it is Enabled or Disabled.
You want to disable it.
Then test booting up.
Secure Boot is something that works in conjunction with Windows OS. It acts like a nightclub bouncer, rejecting packages that Microsoft has not Signed Off On.
Problem solved. "Launch CSM" in Bios was set to never and could not be changed until I removed secure boot which was in Authentication in this machine. after this, Csm could be changed to always and Zorin loaded.
