I was having a software clean up to uninstall unused software and came across this problem. At some point I installed a package Nym VPN, I am not sure if it was a flat or snap however it is no where to be found except in the Zorin menu under "Other" if I click on properties the Software store launches and takes me to the page for Nym and it shows "Install" HOWEVER if I click to launch from the Zorin menu it launches the app. I searched the Software installed via Software store, not there, I searched via the Terminal for Flats and Snaps and Not found yet it is somewhere as the software launches. What is going on here, any ideas?
I used -> sudo apt-get remove nym-vpn -> then followed up with -> sudo apt autoremove ... Now it is uninstalled ... So thanks very much for your help
I'm still wondering why it didn't show up in the Software "Installed" as in the screenshot in the OP?
It looks as if you have added the repo to install nym and then downloaded the deb file from the repo and installed it when you have used this instruction on webpage of nym:
When installed this way it also won't be shown in software manager.
Edit: Just read that flatpaks also can add repositories. But this could also be a possibility how it could be installed and why it isn't shown in software store. Flatpaks usually are shown in gnome-software.
It was craptactular, slower than a wet week and that was just using it the standard way, at no time did I consider the Mixnet 5 stage hop as I imagine I would still waiting now months later for the page to load
Hence, I uninstalled it.
Too bad... it looked really promising. Since it's peer-to-peer based, it would likely work better the more people are using it. But that's the challenge these sort of projects needs to overcome at first.
Might just be a glitch, GNOME Software has “some” problems. If I remember well, I downloaded some games but didn't see them there at that moment, only later. The software might just appear later, on another session or after killing GNOME Software. Killing it is usually the solution to any of its problems.
I agree hence why I tried it, on reflection maybe I was overly harsh as it did get usable line speeds of 20-35 mbps however at the time I was on cable with a guaranteed and genuine 1.5 Gbps line speed which maybe added to the negative opinion I had, I also had it installed on my phone with similar results on WiFi and a Ethernet cable plugged into the phone.
