Installed Plasma Desktop on Zorin Core

Been messing about and have installed Plasma 5 on my Zorin 17 Core running on my old 2008 desktop and I like it. I have moved over to Solus Plasma on that machine since I got the printer working but I have to say Plasma 5 is nice and snappy on Zorin especially when you can fine tune menu animation speeds. Have mine set on 'Instant' and it makes everything nice and snappy. Plus most things work on Plasma 5 and the extra config is always welcome. Only thing missing is the firefox Icon on the taskbar it just shows as a blank document but opens firefox when clicked. Need to look into that.

Sorted the Firefox Icon by Unpinning and opening it then pinning back to the taskbar, now Icon shows.

Been messing with Plasma on Zorin and have managed to change the login screen to a pretty picture. Good thing is I can easily login to the Zorin desktop for upgrades as Zorin Upgrade wont run under Plasma.

You should still be able to get upgrade from Konsole.

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Thanks for that. :slight_smile: Actually Plasma Discover has just installed the update of Libre Office.

Apper is lighter than Discover. Give it a try.
