Installing apps from the Microsoft App Store

I have a program that I would like to run but I can only install it from the Microsoft app store - Complete Anatomy 2024 - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

Is there a way to do this?

If you have a Windows device you can see if running the download link on Zorin OS works, to then run Complete Anatomy 2024 with a Windows software emulator.

i cant get the link to work in zorin. i even tried installing and running firefox in wine. i just get a blank page. any ideas?

this page loads - https://3d4medical.com/download

i was able to download the .exe install file in windows. i transferred that file to my zorin os drive, but i cant get it to run in an emulator

The download might be free but it comes at a price:

A free download does not mean a product is free! It's 'clever' advertising, used by lots of Windows Application providers. I did notice that they offer an .apk for Android so you could try an Android emulator for Linux but no guarantees.

You would probably be better off using Open Anatomy:

https://anatomytool.org/#

Works in Firefox on PCLinuxOS no problem:

no, i'm a paid subscriber. ive been using this app for a long time. once the program is installed, i just login and go from there.

but ive been thinking about trying an alternative. ill give Open Anatomy a try. thanks!

do you know of any 3d models available for linux (even prescription based). im a practitioner and use these reference tools all the time. its an important tool thats been missing in my zorin OS and if i cant find one, ill need to go back to windows unfortunately

Have you installed Wine and run the .exe in Wine?

You can use AlternativeTo website to look for alternatives. I have found this to be a trial and error approach...

Open Anatomy is OS Agnostic because it runs from a browser. It was set up by surgeons who want to make the knowledge free for poor countries. This is the page Aravisian is referring to:

https://alternativeto.net/software/complete-anatomy/

The first ones are all reliant on other platforms, some including android. Others appear to be all web based and some of those require subscription.

Basic info about Open anatomy:

Here's another project that began in 2021:

It uses blender objects.

thats an excellent site. thankyou

those are excellent looking projects. thank you very much for making me aware of them. i will use and promote them.

unfortunately, they dont seem to give me what i need. the complete anatomy app is something i use to educate clients. it provides a 3d model i can strip back. i can isolate different muscles and it will demonstrate exercises for them.

im very interested in alternatives but im also time poor and not necessarily able to adapt my clinic to an alternative quickly.

is there a way i can run my Windows 10 OS which i have installed on a separate drive in a VM? ive installed Boxes and it looks good, but i suppose i need to create a bootable ISO which would be a clone of my windows drive and then load that into Boxes. but im struggling to find a way to do that that im comfortable with. can you offer any advice here?

Please be aware I have never attempted this. As in all scenarios backup your Windows 10 drive with Rescuezilla before attempting this:

VMWare, Virtualbox or Boxes can be used.

If someone has the knowhow, would be good if a tutorial be made in Tutorials & Guides.

That is how all choices are - a compromise of some sort. Often Linux can work but it is not a panacea. If you cannot run the original application in some sort of virtual machine or emulator, you will have to use Windows most likely. I am using MacOS more often lately and maybe that is something you can use. Is the program available with Apple? (Apple is somewhat related to Linux/BSD from what I recall.) Also, I have read about Homebrew which allows other type of programs to be used on Apple that are not available in their official App Store. Maybe that is a program that can run on Apple via an alternative repository? Sorry I can't help more.

Last point is a good one but usually a cost involved. Just checked Crossover Office but not supported. During lockdown I could do everything I did at work on GNU/Linux with the exception of one item, a shared mailbox for Outlook365, and for that I had a VM of Windows 7 Pro 32-bit which later had to be updated to Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit to access works server which I already had a licence for.

You could do the email via the web which I do mostly lately for less storage needed on my hardware and I access my email from so many different types. Also, you could save it as web app on Chrome based browsers or use the package made by the Mint team.

It is.

* MacBook (2015 or later)
* MacBook Air (2013 or later)
* MacBook Pro (Late 2013 or later)
* Mac mini (2014 or later)
* iMac (2014 or later)
* iMac Pro (2017 or later)
* Mac Pro (2013 or later)

OS:

* macOS 11 or later

As well as Chromebooks running Android 7 or above.
I wouldn't buy an Apple Notebook for a program, but a Chromebook might be reasonable. But I am not a doctor.
The Software Darling can help run Mac Software on GnuLinux in similar fashion as using WINE on GnuLinux to run Windows Software.

I have never used Darling... So I can suggest trying it, but offer no critique or expert troubleshooting advice.

The problem with web based email is in a work environment rubbish application, especiall Outlook365 as there is no notification sound. I used Evolution which uses the computers bios speaker to notify you of mail arriving.
