Installing Pro on new Workstation: Advice sought for minimal install

Hi All,

New Workstation on it's way. I plan on having the host OS as minimal, gnome, browser, email and virt-manager and then just running VM for various use cases.

  1. is there a minimal option version in the installer (assuming yes)
  2. is there any post install 'clean-up' options which can support fully removing default apps e.g Libre Office (use it but would have it in one of the VMs), Wine,
    etc..
  3. anything which can help minimize what runs at startup as loading is some times quite slow

Understand there's '15 things you should do after installing Zorin' YT videos however not super keen on that.

Ps am still loving Zorin years on now.

    1. The Pro version comes with a minimal installation. However, you might want to trim it for LibreOffice, Cheese, scanner etc. which can be done manually via the software center.
  1. Uninstall snap will improve the loadup speed significant.

Thanks Storm, will give it a shot this weekend.

Is this true even if no snaps are being used? All of my applications are .deb, flatpak, or AppImage, so snapd shouldn't be doing anything at launch. If it's still slowing down boot, I definitely want to remove it.

I can't recall as snap usually gets throwing out of the window on clean install. The first thing I get rid off.

Thanks for the advice - weekend went well, new build with virt-manager up and running. It's nice a zippy! Cheers for the help.
