Greetings,
I've been a Zorin tester for the longest time and want to install Zorin 18 (Core) alongside Windows 10.
I burned the ISO onto a DVD, rather than s Flash drive, and I am able to access the O/S upon boot up.
If I select Install Zorin, will the O/S create a partition before installation, or do I have to create it prior to installing?
Will the O/S automatically install required drivers and updates?
Considering that no O/S is immune from Malware, Trojans and Viruses, etc// should I install an Anti Virus for protection?
Thanks in advance for your response.
You can choose the "Install alongside Windows" option - it will create the partitioning automatically.
During the install process, you will see a checkbox for this if you connected to your internet. You can choose whether to install additional drivers during installation of Zorin OS or leave it unchecked and do that later.
Performing websafe activities will take care of the lions share of your security.
Opinions vary on anti-virus to use; I prefer to run my own port sniffing than to rely on fallible software.
Because @Aravisian said already what is to say to the Points 1 and 2, I want to say something to Point 3:
You can install a couple things. A Firewall comes preinstalled but not active. So, You only have to activate it. But then it could be that you - depending on your used software - have to create Rules for passing the Firewall.
You can install rkhunter and chkrootkit for scanning for Rootkits. then You have Clam. there is clamav which only works in the Terminal. If You fine with that, okay. If Your prefer a graphical Interface, You can install clamtk, too - this is a graphical Interface for clamav.
Beneath that, You can use an Online Scanner for Files like VirusTotal if You want scan for Example a downloaded File to check it.
But one thing is essential: You. think about where You donwload Stuff and from where You use given Commands. Don't use it only because it there or someone told You. Be critical.
