Intel Arc and X11 - can anyone who has Intel Arc comment here?

Hi to everyone. Can someone who has an Intel Arc graphics card comment on whether or not they see this happen in X.org (X11) mode while on Zorin OS 17? (See below GIF.) It doesn't happen in VirtualBox, but does happen on actual hardware using my AMD 6600 card. Am thinking that the Intel cards may work better with X11, but need confirmation from someone who also owns actual hardware before I consider buying an Arc video card. Thanks in advance.

(Bumping this post.) Am asking this once more (and for the last time) to make sure there's no one who can help (even if they don't have an Arc card). (Moderators: If there's no reply in a few days, feel free to lock this post.) Thanks to all.

I have arc in my notebook (iGPU) and don’t have this issue. A few months ago i did but after a update it got removed (i am guessing a mesa update). But i am using a different distro.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm eyeing an Intel Arc A580 (possibly), but it's $150. I can swing that; no problem, but it's a small chunk of money, still. Nothing to just sneeze at without a thought, you know? Anyway, again, thanks.

Anyone else ... ?

By the way, what distro are you using nowadays? Just asking. (Thanks.)

I am a big fan of Pop! OS

Sorry, @Omnimaxus, I don't have an Intel Arc so I can't really say whether this is an issue with this specifically, or perhaps some driver. With Intel Iris Xe, which I have, everything seems running fine, only having a few minor glitches with Wayland.

I see that it was released in 2022; relatively recent. I don't know how good the driver support is. Maybe you want to try installing additional drivers yourself:

This one seems to go over it more thoroughly:

Intel just started making Arc GPU's during the pandemic, as such, most people here on Linux, don't own one. Plus, those of us who have been following the progress of Intel Arc GPU's, know that they have been in some serious growing pains, there are literally games that the GPU doesn't even support, even on Windows!

I do think what Intel is doing, by being a 3rd competitor, is to be commended, and is good for consumers, so I give them kudo's. But they are having strange issues that I don't remember other GPU manufactures having. They will probably get better over time with driver support.

As far as I know however, there is no good support for Arc GPU's in Linux as a whole right now. So I think it would be wise to get either an Nvidia or AMD GPU, as you can be assured, that they are supported on Linux. My 2-cents.

Thank you to everyone. Much appreciated.

Wish the Zorin Group would comment, though.

Be helpful to have an explanation about X11, etc.

Regardless, again, thank you all just the same.

You are very welcome!

The 2-developers of Zorin OS, are incredibly busy. They are busy developing OS18 right now, this is why they have us here, so that we, can help you.
