Interesting Mac article about browser security and browser list

I no longer use Zorin, strictly Debian user now. I do look here from time to time to see what is going on with Zorin and saw the wailing and gnashing of teeth over browsers. Here is an article from The Mac Observer about browser security.

The Hidden Truth About Privacy...

But the author does not appear to have applied BrowserAudit on any of those browsers. They are also terrible at not correcting Typos - I spotted at least 2.
The information on Zen and streaming services is out of date. I just opened a new tab in Zen for Netflix, and another for Disney+ - previously Disney+ had some 'skipping' but now just the same as watching on TV. Just migrated to Fiber so that helps too! I too no longer use Zorin. My daily go to is PCLOS Debian, no systemd, no pulse audio - wunderbar!

Here is a Video with a Browser Comparison and what the Browsers are connecting (it is a Year old, what can mean that it could be different today of Course):

I have just downloaded PCLOS XFCE and MATE and copied over to my Ventoy. Will give them a try and see what they are about. I am presently on Debian 12.10, awaiting 13/Trixie, no idea when it will be released. Mostly I want 13 for the XFCE 4.20 release. I could compile the later XFCE code, but am feeling way too lazy to do that. It is quite a bit of work, and I just don't feel like dedicating a lot of time to it at present. Laziness is causing me to wait for Trixie.
As for browsers, I honestly do not like any of them, most seem to look like Chrome...ugh! Using Firefox and Valvadi (sometimes), I just installed flatpak and will pull in the Floorp browser and see what it is about. I dislike flatpak (they are getting bloated), so if I like Floorp I will compile it.

I may well get the PPA, as I do dislike flatpak. Installing flatpak also requires about another gig of downloads to support flatpak, then of course, flatpaks have gotten bloated.

I did install floorp last night and am impressed with it so far. I made my two standard changes of putting the search widget window in the address bar and setting false for closing browser on last tab closure. Floorp did an impressive import of my settings that were synced to Firefox and all themes and add-ons seem to be working for the most. There have been a few elements and the such that have required a second blocking. In the Settings menu it seems there are many more options to select from than what FF is currently offering.

Privacy wise I do not know how much better Floorp truly is, there are always claims and then there is reality. I will continue to use it for a week or so and see how it goes.

I pulled the Floorp binaries in and have used Floorp for several days now. Pretty impressive, has a few additional features over FF. Folks should give Floorp a try and see what they think.
