Intune Portal for Linux works!

Hello,

I'd like to anounce that after 3 weeks of torture fighting with Intune Portal for Linux which is not by default supported for Zorin distribution now it works perfectly.
Sign in process is very simple on the laptop/PC but Endpoint Manager require bit of configuration regarding scripting etc.
Zorin seems to have very bright future not only as domestic (Home) but aslo as profesional business (Pro) grade system of 22'nd Century.

If this is intended as a Tutorial for others to follow, could you please elaborate more on how you got it to work.

Sure:

  1. Condition: MS Edge must be installed beforehand
  2. user signing in must have Intune licenses assigned
  3. Endpoint Manager (Intune) must have some basic configuration done, at least password strenght
  4. After intune instalation laptop reboot is required.
Note: Intune is veeeeeerrrryyy slow to respond with scripts and changes, this is for people wih great patience.

# Key Ring installation
curl https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc | gpg --dearmor > microsoft.gpg
sudo install -o root -g root -m 644 microsoft.gpg /usr/share/keyrings/
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/microsoft.gpg] https://packages.microsoft.com/ubuntu/24.04/prod noble main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft-ubuntu-$(lsb_release -cs)-prod.list
# intune install
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y intune-portal

for lazy admin like me here is link to script, download, make it executable

If there are Intune admins on the forum, I am happy to share my configuration tips for Edge to make it more like "Chrome" with google as default starup page and google as default search engine, once user is signed in to his M365 account all magic starts.

Thanks for coming back with more detail. I don't use Intune, but hope your 3 weeks of sweat and tears will aid others that come here looking. :+1:

This could be important for admins looking for alternative OS to Win as a form of protest. Also many decent laptops went to scrap just because Win10 is no longer supported. Many students come to work for summer jobs and I do not see any reason spendign 1500 Eur on laptop just to be used 2 months a year for mostly browser operation.

All I can say is I would not be happy using any MS Products. That was the one plus point for me working from home during lockdown and beyond up to retirement. I missed work colleagues but I did not miss using Windows 10 and Offfice 2019.
My workflow was much more fluid and faster using SoftMaker Office and GNU/Linux I made to look like Windows 10 without any issues in both Feren OS and Devuan 3.0.

Q4OS with its unique Look Switcher is possibly the best OS for using the Win10 Global Theme.
