I am still new to the Linux world and my Zorin 17.2 is running idly and Windows is uninstalled. I only have Zorin 17.2 Pro on my Nvme and I'm happy.
So far all good, but I discovered the program protocols by chance and now I wonder if this is normal?
Maybe someone who knows more about this can say something?
I don't use NVME, Brave Search engine came back with this after I used search term of HID (Human Interface Device) error:
PCIe NVMe HID Error on Ubuntu
The PCIe MP2 HID error on NVMe drives running Ubuntu 22.04 is a known issue affecting some users. This error typically occurs during the installation process or shortly after booting the system.
Possible Causes:
Incorrect NVMe drive configuration: Ensure that the NVMe drive is properly configured in the system’s BIOS or UEFI settings. Some users have reported issues with drives not being recognized due to incorrect settings.
Firmware issues: Firmware problems with the NVMe controller or drive itself can cause errors. Check for firmware updates and apply them if available.
Driver issues: The Linux kernel’s NVMe driver might be experiencing issues. Try updating the kernel or reinstalling the NVMe driver.
Workarounds and Solutions:
Try a different NVMe drive: If the issue persists with one drive, try using a different NVMe drive to rule out any hardware-specific problems.
Use a different installation method: Instead of a traditional installation, try using a Netboot installation or a USB-based installation to bypass potential issues with the NVMe drive detection.
Disable PCIe Multi-Pathing (MP2): Temporarily disable PCIe MP2 in the system’s BIOS or UEFI settings to see if it resolves the issue. However, this may impact system performance.
Additional Tips:
Check system logs: Review system logs for any error messages related to NVMe drive detection or PCIe MP2.
Verify NVMe drive compatibility: Ensure that the NVMe drive is compatible with Ubuntu 22.04 and the system’s hardware.
By exploring these potential causes and workarounds, you may be able to resolve the PCIe MP2 HID error on your NVMe drive running Ubuntu 22.04.
The problem with most SSD's is that the firmware can only usually be updated on Windows or Mac.
