Is it possible to have double row taskbar with window titles?

I am used to have it like this for many years on Windows, but recently in Windows 11 I had to use a third party tool because Microsoft just stripped away many of the settings. If I have a company computer I might even be blocked to install anything, so I am stuck with it anyway.
On my home PC with Linux I would like to have it. Is there a way?

Hm, I have only found that option for cinnamon desktop. For gnome you could try it with this gnome extension, but I haven't tried it yet and I'm not sure if you can display window titles there

Good Found. Interesting Concept. But it doesn't look that it has Windows Titles because it is a Dock. But there is the Option for Double Row.

thanks. I have tested it and unfortunately it is just classic Gnome side panel and it cannot be put horizontal or show window titles :-\

What you are describing sounds very much like what I have using Lite:
XFCE4 panel with tasklist buttons.

Gnome 46, like Windows 11 does not offer this and the way the shell controls the panel... I doubt any extension can really reasonably approximate it.

You can use another Desktop Environment like Cinnamon, Mate or XFCE on Zorin OS 18 that does offer this easily.

That sounds reasonable to just switch DE instead of trying to bend it via extensions  Is there any downside when switching DEs? I suppose autostart apps will have to be set again for example?

Well XFCE is way more lighter than Gnome, so that's a plus.

XFCE is a completely different system. Take a look at it beforehand to see if you like the desktop. The operation is significantly different from Gnome. On Distrosea, you can take a look at Zorin lite, for example.

If I have mail client Evolution setup is this dependent on particular DE and will not be there when I switch?

Most apps work in the other desktop environment. However, some things are specific to Gnome or Xfce. Also, only the pure Xfce4 desktop can currently be installed under Zorin 18, not Zorin Lite Xfce4 desktop (as Zorin Lite 18 has not yet been released), which looks quite different.

In Zorin 17 core you can install the Zorin lite desktop.

Evolution is a Gnome app but available in other DE's. It is my preferred email client too and running it on KDE Plasma on PCLOS Debian.

I have seen some video about a new interesting desktop environment, but did not play it and can't find it now  Something new and flashy. Any idea what could it be?

Cosmic? Or Singularity?
