Two questions at the end, if you're in a hurry. Here's what is fueling the questions: I use iPhone, and have found that KDE Connect app on it seems to connect with Linux distros, whether they are running KDE or not.
The new Zorin Connect, however, seems to go well beyond the KDE Connect functionality, even approaching some of the functionality that we find with iPhone+Mac products. It seems to be more than a rebadged KDE Connect.
Two Questions:
What, if anything, does Zorin Connect owe to KDE Connect?
What hope should we have of seeing Zorin Connect for iPhone as well?
Historically, Zorin Conect was a blend of Gnome's GS Connect and KDE Connect. Personally I have had issues in the past with Zorin Connect functioning, so my preference is for KDE Connect. I don't use Zorin as my daily driver anymore. KDE are continually refining and adding new functions. My advice is, stick with what works.
KDE Connect is an open source project licensed under the GPL and GPL3 licenses. I think those links provide a good summary of what are the rights and responsibilities.
Only the developers can answer this, but I don't think there are any plans to do this anytime soon.
I know that Zorin, as do most companies, must choose wisely where to deploy coding resources. They surely have many other ideas higher up on the priority list, but I would love to see Zorin Connect come to iOS as well. Someday, perhaps.
