Does Zorin OS have a Discord Server (official or unofficial) ?
It has community-run Matrix and Telegram chats, but i don't find any Discord chat.
There might be 1 or even more unofficial Discord servers for Zorin OS but searching them won't list any because servers must comply to certain rules in order to be found.
I would avoid Discord like the plague:
There are even some cases in which some servers report an attempt to access to other users' accounts or other kind of frauds, they post a message telling to be cautious with links that some users publish, suspicious requests or private messages that we might receive. I don't worry much about this since I have enough experience on how they do them and how they look like at first sight, but I certainly post a warning whenever a spam message or possible fraud is being performed on a chat so other users can report it or just ignore it. Also, I hate how certain people ruin the experience like this on services or are rude on chats. Luckily it's not a common behavior, and by the way whenever I see these situations I report them or just ignore/leave the server. So far I was never attacked by others on Discord, I don't use it all the time and I make a pretty “professional” use of Discord, not exactly/necessarily for fun purposes, if you know what I mean. And I choose only servers in which I see a content in which I'm interested, not any that users propose me. By the way 2 things are really unreasonable to me, Discord not posting at least a warning when first joining the service to show examples of threats and how people fall in them so easily.
just the other day iwas looking for help on any nokia forum for my phone ,and it seems nokia help has moved to discord.
so, registered there and almost immediately started getting heaps of spam in my email.
not a good sign .
needless to say ,unregistered and ran for the hills lol
discord is dicey...
I used to use discord until around a month ago, and seeing people get their account get hacked for clicking on suspicious links happened, at minimum, once a week, sometimes even more often
Most of the times it's very obvious and avoiding it is common sense (at least for most...), but it is true that sometimes, I have seen new features used as a way to make a malicious link look like a legit one. There's also the fake nitro giveaway servers, server owners having to give the bots from their server full access to their account (which can end really bad when the bot gets hacked, which HAS happened) and the list goes on...
So far, discord has been the place where I had to learn the biggest amount of security rules just to be able to use the service like intended, and even then my account was still not fully safe...
To be honest, that is not a Discord issue. Sure, Discord could do a better job at moderating this type of activity, but at the end of the day is just the same mechanism of distributing malware that has been used since day 1 of the public internet.
People need to be educated about this, and taught not to click random links or download stuff from strangers on the internet. Administrators and moderators on most Discord servers tend to be volunteers, just like it works on Reddit, and cannot be expected to be alert 24/7 to stop the avalanche of spam bots online. Discord is an attack vector due to its popularity, same as Windows is compared to Linux.
There is another forum. Was going to post but has been down recently. Not as many visitors as here:
I can only access it on my Fairphone 3+ using Privacy Browser!
