Is there a link between Ubuntu and Zorin versions?

I understand, Zorin OS does not follow the Ubuntu change model.

Hi, it follows the LTS change model only - it used to do short term releases, but not any more, which is a good thing. When there is an LTS release in Ubuntu, Zorin usually follows 6 - 12 months after the release.

Does anyone know what specific version of Ubuntu is Zorin 16 based on?
