Is there any solution for the blurry apps under fractional scaling on XWayland?

i need 125% of fractional scaling to have a readable interface on my 14'' 1080p laptop. but the fractional scaling in GNOME Wayland can cause XWayland apps to be blurry (like Microsoft Edge and many other apps), likely because the xwayland rendering solution is going down and force stretched to the 125% screen. this is a common problem on gnome.

i googled found changing text scaling to 1.25 in gnome-tweaks and set scaling factor to 100% works without blur, but all gtk apps looks like only texts are scaled but interface is still 100%, they looks strange:

i wonder if there is a solution to let xwayland apps scale themselves like kde plasma or gnome 47 on the current gnome43.9.

thanks a lot.

As far as I know, it isn't in Gnome 43. You could try it in Xorg Mode if it there is better than in Wayland.

Xorg session actually works well but fractional scaling under x11 works with a performance issue and a lot of tears.

It is actually gnome 43.9, and XWayland apps got blurry under fractional scaling like any other distros below gnome47, as well as KDE plasma.

Is there’s a patch or something that can let XWayland apps scale themselves or fix this issue?

Thanks a lot.

A Patch would be a Thing of the Desktop Environment and/or the individual Program I guess. Because Gnome 43.9 is at the End the Developers of the individual Program could theoretically make something but there would be the Problem if this causes Issues with later Desktop Versions.

The problematic Programs: Are these Flatpak's, Snap's, .deb's or a Mixture of all?

all xwayland apps from all package managers had the same problem.

Well ... then I guess, you could contact the software Developers and describe that to them and then hopefully they could update there Programs or ... You must wait until Zorin 18 comes with a more modern Gnome Version and then it hopefully works with Wayland.

An alternative solution?

um... it only works with X11 but not Wayland

yeah, hoping zorin18 will rebase to ubuntu24.04+ and use gnome47+.

gnome47 works pretty well with no blurry stuff

however, thanks a lot
