I have never been an enemy of Jews. In fact, I don't even have a firm belief in them. However, lately I couldn't remain indifferent to the actions of the Israeli state. The missile attack on the school, in particular, infuriated me.
I learned that famous technology companies have R&D units or companies in Israel. Microsoft, IBM, Red Hat, Samsung, Apple, etc. It is known that these companies collect user data under the name of telemetry and send it to these centers. So how does things work at Zorin OS? Does Zorin OS send our data to Israel? Can we hear a definitive statement on this? Could we see the same sensitivity from the Zorin brothers towards Israel's attacks on other countries as they showed towards the Ukraine-Russia War?
Iranian authorities say a strike hit a girls' primary school on Saturday February 28 in Minab, southern Iran, after the launch of strikes against Tehran by Israel and the United States. The district governor, Mohammad Radmehr, quoted by CNN, assures that the bombing left 63 dead and 92 injured. This figure was revised upwards by the Iranian authorities during the day. An assessment that no independent source is able to verify.
The primary question in this (now closed) thread is:
Is Zorin OS sending telemetry to Israel?
The answer is No.
No part of base Zorin OS gathers user telemetry - so unless you visit websites or add on services that do, (Which won't route through Zorin OS, but through that application you are using or added), no telemetry will be gathered.
The one (Opt In only) feature Zorin OS does include is Zorin Census which gathers no User Identifying information - It only reports how many users are actively using Zorin OS as their chosen distro and is only enabled by the user explicitly opting into it (It is off by default).
Summary
It is true that IBM, Microsoft, Apple, etc have locations in Israel for R&D. These are regional, so they gather data or telemetry from that regional market, not globally.
There are such centers located around the world, each disseminating and collating data for that region.
These are used regionally for marketing and user research by those companies, not necessarily for that government.
