Issue when installing ZorinOS (switching from Windows) | black screen

Hello fellows,

I'm about to switch from Windows to Linux and created a USB bootable drive with the latest release of ZorinOS (using belena etcher & rufus on Windows). When I boot and select either the first option or the third one (with modern drivers), I always get stuck in an immediate black screen. I also tried typing "e" and removed "quite mode", but with the same result. I also experience a big delay when typing with my keyboard in bootloader and switched to a wired periphals, also with no luck (batteries are charged).

These are the specs of my PC:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • ASUS TUF Gaming B650-E WIFI
  • ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER OC
  • Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 2TB
  • Samsung SSD 870 EVO 4TB

Monitor:

  • HP OMEN 27k Gaming Monitor - 27" Bildschirm, 4K Display, 144Hz

I also switched the monitor to a regular one with 1980x1080 resolution and 60Hz. But also with no luck.

I also tried to turn of secure boot, but this didn't change anything.

Do you guys have an advice?

Thank you,
Martin

Welcome to the Forum!

Did you disabled Secure Boot and Fast Boot in Your BIOS?
When You used Rufus: What Partition Sheme did you used? GPT or MBR? If your BIOS is in UEFI Mode GPT would be good to use. If it is in Legacy Mode MBR.

Hi Ponce-De-Leon,

thank you!

Changing the partition scheme solved to issue. I created the usb stick with GPT and it worked smoothly. :grinning:

I have ZorinOS installed meanwhile and enjoy the new experience!
