Hi, I am having a weird glitch when trying to attach files in a Thunderbird email.
I usually have the file manager open in the directory and just "drag and drop" into the corresponding email, which gets attached and then normally send the email.
But when the directory route of the file is very long, the attachment gets into the email fine but when trying to send I get an error, stating that it can not get a hold of the file.
Now, if I copy or move those files into the Downloads directory, and re-attach them, then I get no issue and the email is sent well.
it gets me to wonder if in Zorin 17.1 Pro there is a limitation for the lenght of the file route (file directory + file name). Also, I use samba to access some shares I have in my nas (Synology) to copy and move back and forth. No issues up to now, but I ask if I should have any care on this item.
Best Regards,
otto
This makes me think the issue is not with the length of the filename but with the package format used. Please open a terminal and run the command:
flatpak list
If you see Thunderbird listed in the output, the cause of your issue has to do with how it was installed. Please see these related threads:
Possible solutions are:
Uninstall Thunderbird and re-install it again using the .deb package format, which you can identify by the "sources" drop-down under the blue install button; it should say "Zorin OS".
Install another program called Flatseal to grant unrestricted file system access to the Thunderbird Flatpak.
