Issue with Printer and Scanner Compatibility on Zorin OS

Dear Zorin OS Support Team,

I am reaching out to report an issue I encountered with printer and scanner compatibility on Zorin OS. After installing Zorin OS on my computer, I noticed that some of my printers, specifically LaserJet models, do not fully function, particularly when attempting to use the scanner feature.

Problem Details:

  • The LaserJet printer is unable to complete scans and does not always respond when print commands are sent.
  • I have tried various drivers and troubleshooting steps recommended for similar issues but have yet to find a solution.

Request for Assistance: Could you please advise if there is a compatible driver or solution for using LaserJet printers on Zorin OS, especially for scanning functionality? If additional configurations are needed, guidance on implementing them would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, any recommendations for compatible scanners that integrate well with Zorin OS would be extremely helpful.

Just before going any deeper, what model of printers / scanners are we talking about? That would go a long way into finding out if there are any specific drivers available that can help with the issues you're having. Also how they're connected to your computer, either through a USB connection or a network connection?

This may seem a rather silly suggestion. Regarding scanning documents, after placing a document in the scanner section, have you tried going to: Start menu>Graphics>'Document Scanner'; click it, it will open, then search for a scanner, then ask you to click 'Scan'. You will then see the scanned document, which you can save or print. The first time it may take quite a few seconds to locate the scanner, which it will describe.
