I've bought Starwars Outlaws

Yes, I bought it. So less time to theming icons and more time for gaming. It was 50% off on Steam so I thought to grab while it's hot

Gonna have to let us know what you think. I know there's lots of opinions about games but a lot of opinions never bother to even try before they judge.

That was a mistake, you will likely hate the game, as its literally the worst Star Wars game ever made. Its half baked, lots of bugs, graphics not to par for late 2024. The story doesn't make sense, the NPC AI are terrible. [Personally, I prefer games that focus more on storytelling and gameplay than pushing of social views] commonly found in AAA titles today, who's games die a quick death, as do the companies that made them, like Ubisoft.

I predict you'll put about a max of 10 hours into the game and bail, but you won't be able to get your money back then.

Enjoy your newly purchased game @Storm. Hope you will like the game.

So far the intro of the game is good, where you sneak around in the city and on and so forth, but I'm think after that it's not my cup of tea. The open world games is not for me I think. I like linear games. But I'll poke around a bit more.

What's a good strategic star wars games. I'm not to sure for realtime combat. It makes no room for coffee and Findus cat.

See, I wonder if I am unusual in that I like both types. I enjoy Enshrouded as much as Assassins Creed.
Maybe it is mood dependent.

Again, I like The Hogwarts open world mixed with linear timeline events. Is Hogwarts an AAA game?

I'm usually a linear over open world guy, but I can appreciate certain open world games, depending on how they do the open world.

I would say it's definitely a AAA game. My main complaint with that game wasn't so much the open world, more the fact that the combat doesn't change much the entire way through. I think they did a great job of creating the castle and surrounding areas, though.

There's going to be a 2 I read, but that's it. Nothing about style, story etc.

I wouldn't say that's unusual. It depends on the quality of the world and the story telling. It's just flat out easier to have your world feel complete and your story coherent if you retain total control over what the player sees of it, so it's easier to make a linear game that can impress me with its quality. At the same time, if it's done decently, getting to run around and play in a sandbox can be fun.

I particularly enjoyed Saints Row 3 and 4, which were absolutely absurd, so it didn't matter as much if the open world was coherent, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Cyberpunk 2077, the former for a story (at least in the ancient Greek parts) that kept my attention and side quests that felt good, and the latter for a world that felt unnervingly plausible in many ways. (The side quests are the best part of the base game, and the advertising--the in-game ads for in-universe brands--it's unbelievable how much work those did to sell the tone and plausibility of Night City for me. I never want to play another modern open world game that doesn't have believable advertising all over.)

Have you concidered The Witcher 3? Great for story line and atmosphere that draws you in. It has large maps but there is no filler in the open world. It is packed with side quests and areas to discover. But if you like linear you can follow the main plot/quest.

I'll check it out.

I loved Cyberpunk 2077. The janky release took the polish off of what is an incredible immersive world.

I even remember playing the tabletop Cyberpunk 2020.

Okay. I have played it decent amount of hours now. Despite its reputation I'm actually entertained.

Because of my mother's absolute veto on D&D, I was never allowed around people or shops that had that kind of stuff while 2020 was a thing. I DO have all of the 2020 books though, courtesy Humble Bundle, and have dabbled in Cyberpunk RED, which is set in the 2040s, in the immediate aftermath of Johnny Silverhand nuking Arasaka Tower.
