Although I am very close to the modem, I rarely get packet loss in this way and in local connections.

To fix you need to update the firmware

You can find the latest firmware in a .tar.gz format here,

From there you can extract part or all of it to /usr/lib/firmware, after this it'll work fine,

Try using the Ubuntu 22 lts version of firmware: https://ubuntu.pkgs.org/22.04/ubuntu-main-amd64/linux-firmware_20220329.git681281e4-0ubuntu1_all.deb.html

being a deb file, you can double click to install. See if that allows for your system to see and use the wifi adapter.

Would you mind performing the lshw command again to ensure that the firmware is being loaded? Trying to confirm the installation was successful.

it did not load the firmware....version was 66 but should be 68.
Run sudo dpkg --configure -a in terminal.
