I use LACT for that purpose.
Installation (flatpak):
flatpak install flathub io.github.ilya_zlobintsev.LACT
It require that you give it permission to run outside its sandbox, after that a restart is needed.

Question: Is Secure Boot disabled in BIOS? If you're using dual boot, disable fast boot in Windows also. Windows has a nasty habit of taking control of the system.

i had some troubles with it as well but i did get it installed with this command then just configured it myself on its panel
I went to make the attempt to install this, to try this software out. I think my distro is too old, its no longer supported, which means there is some software I am unable to install. I went through the same issue though, I got the red failed stuff. Upon trying another install method, can't find package error as well.
This is another case of, if your not running a still supported OS, good luck getting new software for a dead OS. (Zorin OS 16.3) Having said all that, if your running at least Zorin OS 17 or 18, then your issue is not due to lack of support, its clearly something else.
Maybe there actually is problems with the uploaded packages, that could be too. I can actually install software on my no longer supported OS, just not brand new stuff BTW. Anyways, I'll stick with all the sensor reading software I already have.
its possible mine is differnt then what most are using in OS 18 #1 i dont have any of kernel 6.17 installed i do have 6.14 and my current kernel is 6.18.17 and its backup of 6.18.16 thats all i have to make OS 18 extremely stable for my setup. this maybe why the cooler control works i know it does need a few things but it will depend on dependencys..as always. works awsome on my system which i will post below

Secure Boot is disabled and, at the moment, just Zorin as OS.
I installed LACT and set it as root.
I can turn on fans there, or set it to automatic.
So I see, software and fans are "connected". Is this everything to do?
At wich temperature should "automatic" start?
GameMode is installed, but I think it turns of after starting the game.
