KDE/Qt Apps File Picker Problem

Hello,
On Zorin OS since most of the GNOME (gtk) apps lack many features for the sake of minimalism (!), I use KDE/other (QT) alternatives.

Some of the QT apps I use:

  • Dolphin instead of Nautilus File Manager (show hidden items with a different color, select predefined icons for folders similar to Windows, show recently accesed folders(not just files), show folder content thumbnail preview images, run desktop files, remember latest state (windows, folders, tabs) on startup, support typeahead search instead of searching recursively on all subfolders when you press a key...)
  • Okular instead of GNOME Evince Document Viewer (electronic signatures, tabbed view, annotations, form filling, manual / drawn signatures..)
  • Copyq (gnome doesn't even ship a clipboard manager)
  • KolourPaint instead of Pinta (Gnome doesn't ship a simple/basic level image editor/annotator/cropper app something like MS Paint)
  • Krita instead of GIMP (I mean with GIMP you can edit svg files but you cannot save them as svg and many similar absurd problems..)
  • SMPlayer/VLC instead of GNOME Totem Videos (Totem is even worse than Windows 11's Media Player about features and codecs)
  • Flameshot instead of GNOME Screenshot (to annotate/write text/add shapes.. to screenshot while taking it)
  • OBS Studio instead of GNOME Video Recorder (GNOME use VP8 Webm format so that it's like 1000 slower to seek a video)
  • and many more qt apps (qbittorrent, android file transfer...)

I also managed to change themes of qt apps successfully on Zorin, but one issue left for me is file picker.

For example when I open the file picker with a qt app (using File-Open)

I am not able to see the bookmarks, snap version at least shows the places but still not the bookmarks. (On Dolphin I have no problem)

How can I sync those? (I can manually add on Okular but they won't be synced with dolphin..) Or is it the only way? Thanks.

By the way this can be a issue that maybe Zorin should consider KDE flavor instead of GNOME @zorink @AZorin Zorin OS makes ads about windows alternative but gnome apps definetely don't have functionalities (except for the extensions) as Windows has.

I'm not sure they will go to KDE, they have great apps but the DE is a bit messy, but I can be wrong

The only reason I stay on Zorin is UI (Zorin Appearance) and nice apps/extensions that are shipped by default. Otherwise KDE UX is much better than Vanilla GNOME's.

Only to be sure: You use only KDE/QT Programs but not the whole Plasma Desktop, yes? The File Picker Thing could be because it is on Gnome 46 still an inpedendent Thing. In later Versions this is gone and Nautilus becaomes the File Picker. Maybe then You have a better Experience.

For this, maybe it is an Issue with the QT-GTK Framework.

It does, I'm sure it's tweakable but I will not look at this cause I don't use KDE apps

Yes only Qt apps, everything is still Zorin's default GNOME.

I see thanks.

But why? Don't you think KDE apps are better compared to GNOME apps?

Because I made extension for nautilus and it's enough for me, I don't need Dolphin or neme or other..
I don't need clipboard manager and if there are lot of gnome extension for that
I don't use Evince but Papers an it's enough for me
GIMP is enough for me and I use Inkscape for svg
VLC player of course
The original screen-shot is enough for me I have a nautilus extension to annotate
I don't managed videos so OBS is not in my list
