Kdenlive. Capture crashed. Please, checked your parameters

Hi, thank you for ZorinOS, it works better than 24.04  , I recommend.

On Zorin OS 17.2 Pro, with Kdenlive (Version 24.12.2 on AppImage (standard installation)), with Wayland,
I would like to grab my screen with the Screen grab function.

I have this issue:

Title:

Capture crashed. Please, checked your parameters.

I had this trouble with Ubuntu 24.04! Even with X11.

The bug is known by Kdenlive:

Thank you for any feedback,
how to solve this trouble
or which equivalent application on Zorin OS on Wayland will you recommend.

Many thanks for your time and interest

José, from France.

¡Hola! y bienvenido. I've never used screen capture function of KDEnlive. What I currently do is use Simple Screen Recorder to capture the desktop/VM, then use KDEnlive for ediring and then render it for upload to Vimeo.

@swarfendor437 thank you for your feedback

I used SSR too.
But I need more functions, like to give a screen size, add comments on the capture, and so on.

I am thinking of Spectacle. But I have to use it on Xorg!

Let me try

Have a nice day :).

I think only in Plasma 6.0 you can also use Screen Capture with Spectacle.

You could try the Flatpak Version; it is available in the Software Store. Or You can install the APT Version which is a bit older but it would be the native Package Format.

Another Thing: You could look if all Codecs are installed. For this, go in the Software Store, scroll on the starpage all the Way down and there You find the ''Codecs'' Button. click on it and there will be shown available Codecs for Installation. Install them all.

For more Codecs, open the Terminal and type sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras for installing more Codecs. When You install it, You have to agree to a Licence Agreement because in this Package are Microsoft Fonts included, too.

And then, You could install VLC Media Player to get more, too. You can do that with the Command sudo apt install vlc

If I'm doing any screencapture I generally turn to OBS to do that. A little more effort to setup than any of the other options, but I like the flexibility it gives me when doing so. I don't think I've ever tried to do this through kdenlive, and I didn't even know they had the ability to do so, tbh.

"GPU Recorder" is also a safe bet, but OBS is more configurable.
