First of all, im super happy with my install Zorin OS Lite. Macbook from late 2015 is running super swiftly, so thanks to anyone part of this project 
Does anyone here know how to type curly brackets? Or how to customize keyboard mappings in general?
In mac i would use alt-shift-8 to create {

if you use the standard US-english keyboard , you can type the { / } bracket my shift+[ / shift+] .
not sure if mac keyboards are different lol never used a mac .
for mapping keys you could install input-remapper , which is a GUI tool to for remapping keys without manually editing files.
sudo apt install input-remapper
