How to disable message the password you use to log into your computer no longer matches that of your password keyring in Ubuntu 22.04
To disable the message “The password you use to log into your computer no longer matches that of your login keyring” in Ubuntu 22.04, you can follow these steps:
Open the “Passwords and Keys” utility from the menu or by searching for it in the Dash.
In the “Passwords and Keys” window, click on “View” and then select “By Keyring” to show the sidebar.
Right-click on “Login” and select “Change Password”.
Enter your original password (the password you set when you created your user account) and then set a new password to match your Ubuntu login password.
Click “Apply” to save the changes.
Alternatively, you can also set a blank password for the default keyring. This will disable the prompt and allow you to log in automatically. However, note that this will store your passwords unencrypted, so it’s not recommended for security reasons.
You can also try removing the ~/.gnome2/keyrings/login.keyring file, which will prompt you to set a new password. Make sure it matches the one used for logging in.
It’s also worth noting that if you’re using automatic login, you may need to set a blank password for the default keyring to disable the prompt. However, this is not recommended for security reasons.
It’s also worth mentioning that you can also try to use the command gnome-keyring-daemon --remove to remove the default keyring and then recreate it with the correct password.
It’s always a good idea to backup your passwords before making any changes to your keyring.
Okay, do we even have this in Zorin 17.1 lite? I don't even see this and can't find it anywhere so far.
"Enter your original password (the password you set when you created your user account) and then set a new password to match your Ubuntu login password."
Huh ? I am so lost. I only have one password that I know of and no others.
The only password I have is my regular log on password.
From memory it is under Settings | Security. I covered this in the unofficial manual for Zorin 17. Once you have downloaded it look for Passwords and Keys.
Anyone else have any ideas on how to correct this ? Every time I go online I have to click "cancel" three times in a row before the dialog box goes away and it is really annoying.
