I am new at using Zorin Pro os 18. I installed Kodi on both of my home computers from the Zorin App Store. When I turn on Kodi, I get Remote communication server failed to start. I checked the log for Kodi and it says it can't connect to the client server providers. It also gets stuck and will not exit Kodi. I have tried closing all windows, but it still will not stop the software.
Is there some way I am supposed to configure Kodi to use it on a Linux computer. I have been using Kodi for over 15 years on Windows and IOS computers and never have I had this problem. My MacBook Pro M1 is still working fine with Kodi, the settings are the same way and it is the latest version of Kodi also.
Also when I use my Stremio app on my Zorin computer it also gets stuck in some kind of glitch. I have to stop the app, but once I shut it down, it will not load again until I restart the computer.
Is there somewhere else I should post this to get help with Zorin app software or is General Help the place I should get help?
Thank you for your help in advance
Hi and welcome.
Have you checked the SMB settings?
Or another possible fix:
And checkout this Reddit thread, which references issues with Flatpak version and Python version compatibility issues:
With regard to Stremio, have you installed the Flatpak version? See if installing the .deb package works better. Walkthroughs for both methods here:
In case you are wondering why my searches were for Ubuntu 24.04, it is because that is what Zorin 18 is based on. Always worth searching for issues on Ubuntu 24.04 as it has a bigger user base than Zorin so likely to be more readily available answers. This has always been key advice on this forum. Keep us posted.
