is there a way to take a screenshot with Ksnip while a drop down menu is active ?
I can't see an option for that
when i have a drop down menu active , i can't even open Ksnip with my shortcut
if i open Ksnip 1st then select drop down , Ksnip disappears
is there another screenshot tool that have annotations and can capture drop down menus ?
You probably have a Print Screen on your keyboard
yes , and i captured that button as a shortcut to ksnip
Use Flameshot with delay set long enough to open a menu.
Edit: any screenshot app with a delay setting should work.

When creating the manual for Zorin 15 I used Shutter, for 17 I used Spectacle, but this works best in Plasma when doing repeat shots of same area when choosing area over window or full screen.
For XFCE screenshot tool, this works.
That's the one I normally use.
Duh..... I've just noticed Ksnip also has a delay setting.
