So I've been using zorin os 16 since it came out on my laptop hooked up to an external monitor. But when I loaded the distro on another laptop the colors on the laptop screen appear terrible and very washed out. How can I fix this? This is a previous issue which was solved when the problem was with the external monitor colors.

What is the make and model of the notebook? I don't use the term you used as it engenders bad practice - such devices should always be on a desk or other flat surface to allow sufficient cooling! What is the graphics chipset inside the notebook?

Assuming it's not a screen damage, check these
Settings > Colors > Laptop Screen should be enabled and contain a profile called Automatic - (your laptop model)
Settings > Accessibility > High Contrast should be disabled
