Laptop trackpad gets freeze after a while

I just installed Zorin OS Core on my Samsung laptop and everything works great, except that after a while (about 10 minutes?) the trackpad starts to freeze and becomes very slow and unusable. It only gets fixed after restarting the OS... does anyone know what could be causing this? Point is that the trackpad works perfectly before that...

Can you tell us more about your Samsung laptop e.g. model and spec. Any details of trackpad hardware?

Have you had a play with Zorin>Settings>Trackpad & Mouse ?

Have you looked at Software Updates>Additional Drivers to see if any drivers are available?

As you are seeing a slow deterioration in trackpad function over 10mins, I wonder if anything is being written to logs to indicate an error or issue that is building up.
Other forum member may help you better find the appropriate log file/s to investigate.

Does Your System run in Wayland or X11? When you have Zorin 17, you can check that in Settings>About. In Zorin 18 it is in Settings>System>Info>Systemdetails.

And when You go to Settings>Energy (or Power) how are the Energy Settings are set up? Maybe You can make a Screenshot?

Nope, just done.

I am using Wayland.

Energy Settings:
Power Mode -> Balanced
Power Saving ->

  • Automatic Screen Brightness -> on
  • Dim Screen -> on
  • Screen blank -> 5 mins
  • Auto. Power Saver -> on
  • Auto. suspend -> when on battery power

Thank you so much folks!! I'll continue to figure out what's wrong and I'll share here....

Hello.

  1. Could you tell about your kind of activities at that time ?
  2. Please, show your computer 's specifications > System info in settings
  3. Any driver enabled ?

Try selecting X11 (Xorg) from login page. Click user, as if to login, then look for cog or gearwheel icon bottom right of screen.

See if result is any different.
