Hi, I just installed Zorin OS 18 on my Dell laptop. But everytime I turn off the laptop or it goes to standby mode, I can't turn it on. I need to hold the power for a long time, then after releasing and then pressing it, it starts turning on.
Sometimes it helps to go manually into suspend by pressing the button in start menu. You could try this.
If it wakes up after suspend you could disable the automatic suspend.
What model (name) is your laptop exactly? Which specs does it have? It is easier to find solutions for a specific hardware.
Hi. I mean, turning off the automatic standby helps waking up from manual standby. But still, I would like the automatic standby to be turned on. These are the specs. Thank you!
There's no solution that works for all devices. Suspend mode often makes problems in Linux. After a quick web search for your notebook I didn't found a solution. You probably need to spend a little bit more time to find a solution that works for you with automatic suspend by adding kernel parameters.
But you have a way to put your notebook into suspend which works now.
I understand that you would prefer a different solution that is more comfortable.
On this Screen, You have at the bottom the Option ''Systemdetails''. click on it and look in the opening window if the System runs in Wayland or X11. If it runs in Wayland, You could try it with swtiching to X11/Xorg.
To do that, go to the Login Screen. Click there on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right Corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in.
Hi, even after changing it, it's still the same. If I close my laptop, it goes to standby mode, and then i can't turn it on anymore. I need to long press the power button to "turn it off" and then turn it on again.
