Latest updates cause issue with nvidia GPU

After the latest updates, I booted my PC and was no longer able to use my main monitor. I tried to update the drivers, but I got some kind of error (that I unfortunately didn't screenshot).

I used timeshift to revert my system back and all was okay then.

These are the updates that are available:

Now that I'm looking at it, I see kernel -35 in system info but modules for kernel -40 in the updates

Do you have secure boot activated in Bios ?

There came a Kernel Update to -40. It is shown in Your List, too. Maybe try to update the System over the Terminal with sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade and look if You see any Errors.

If you have SB on make sure the SB Key is enrolled in the MOK

See if Secure Boot Key is enrolled:

sudo mokutil --test-key /var/lib/shim-signed/mok/MOK.der

If it's not then you can either disable SB or enroll it in the MOK.

Note: I have SB on and no problems with my Nvidia 4080 Super or the Kernal update to 6.17.0-40-generic.

It depend l hardware and not only limited to nvidia.
If you don't have dual boot, secure boot tend to be useless
