Linux command to create a ISO file

I found this instruction to make a ISO file from a DVD ..... is this correct ???? ... has anyone tried it ????

How to rip DVD to ISO on Linux?
Unlike ripping DVD to ISO on Windows with 3rd-party program, Linux allows you to do that by default. Just insert your DVD, open Termina, Enter the change directory command. Type in dvd/home/username/ and then press Enter to the next step. Then, type in dd if=/dev/dvdrom of=/home/username/iso-name.iso DVD ripping command. Finally press Enter to create an ISO file from your DVD in the home directory.

Check the link. I have not tried from the command line.

Thanks Winged1 .... I normally don't go to Ubuntu as they want to store cookies on my computer and the onetime I tried to join several months ago they said I was a (roll (or something to that effect) after I tried to enroll ....

But reading around the large cookie demand window I read some very good responses to my question ..... so thanks

Your welcome, some other Linux help sites serve cookies too.
