Facebook Memories brought forth this picture from 2012 of my Linux desktop/laptop hybrid desk. Reminded me that I’ve been annoyed at Windows for a long time.
Funny how Windows is still annoying, but now with the power of AI.

That text, Sponsors of Tomorrow, on the mug that Intel gifted me didn’t age well At least, the mug is still here kicking!
Good times right? Cable internet finally got to 1-MBPS, instead of 300-500 KBPS. Valve was revolutionizing competitive online gaming. Computer manufactures who were popular in the 90's were gone. Dell was making a rise at that time.
Desktop tower computers were starting to see tempered glass side panels instead of easy to scratch acrylic. Gaming notebooks were starting on the rise, as the cost for components started coming down, allowing them to begin to actually compete with desktops.
Social media was becoming a cesspool around that time, making me checkout of all of that garbage. Intel were top of their game back in Sandy Bridge. (Now days Intel falls behind AMD) People weren't trying to turn their home office into a futuristic space ship looking bridge back then. (Look at peoples setups that Linus Tech Tips reacts too, and you'll see what I mean)
Indeed! I remember getting to 1 mbps felt like I was the richest person in my neighborhood. That white device you see at the top shelf is a WiMax device, which was supposed to be better than broadband or 4G (4G wasn't yet available).
It's funny that it didn't last more than a few years, and now virtually nobody knows what WiMax is.
It was different here, though. Social media hadn't yet exploded in popularity, so it was less chaotic. I miss that time.

Had one myself at the start of 2020. I sold it when I saw Xbox Series X could do 4K60 gaming at a fraction of the price (and physical space in my room). Now I have the Xbox Series X and PS5 for my primary gaming needs. I still have a gaming laptop, but it's a pain to tinker with graphics settings. I just want to play.
Still beats my dialup with max 7 KB/s back then. That was the time I grew old by waiting... -_-
Its not fun getting old!
(1) I got terrible sleep yesterday, waking up every hour, and in pain.
(2) Last night I took a couple headach pills, and took a melatonin, and I got I think 7 hours, and woke up a few less times. But I am feeling so groggy today I'm dragging.
Last Words: Enjoy it now GenZ whipper snappers, cause once you get old, you will wish you stayed young. Don't squander your youth!
Oh, I remember the 3-4 KB/s times. Downloading 700 MB totally legal motion pictures was a multi-day venture....
Really is not. I remember 10 years ago, I could work 15-20 hours straight at my desk, on a laptop, anywhere, and everywhere. Now, if I'm sitting too long, I get back pain. If I'm on my bed using the laptop, I get neck pain. I get depressed sometimes. I wish I had lived a healthier, more active life.
