It took me quite a while to find out where my locale settings where stored (LC_*).
Turned out that the Zorin Settings are using $HOME/.pam_environment to that end.
Now the PAM environment module is deprecated for a very long time (for security and convenience) reasons so I'm wondering why Zorin is still using it and if there are better options.
I can manually delete the file but if I change something 1 year from now I'll definitely look in the settings and run into it again.
I have moved this from "Customisation" to "General Help", as it does not fit in Customisation.
@Herman are you asking for help, or simply providing feedback re pam_envionment ?
If the latter, we may move again to the "Feedback" section where it may get noticed by the devs.
I'm asking for help. Can I configure Zorin in such a way that it gets rid of the PAM environment module.
The rest is the reasoning why I ask.
ZorinOS 17 is based on Ubuntu 22.04. You may find more by doing a websearch using e.g. "locale settings without pam.environment Ubuntu 22.04"
I have just done that and there were many hits, so would take time to find information that suits you.
That is all nice and clear but the issue is with the Settings application in the desktop.
I can configure my system from the terminal, deleting the pam environment, ... been there, done that but as soon as I touch the "Language & Region" settings in the desktop the pam thing is back and it screws up all the rest.
I thought the sole purpose of Zorin is to have a consistently working desktop environment.
