Login does not work after every update

This has been an ongoing issue, after the software updater installs an update, I am no longer able to login after a restart, it just loads to black then back to a blank blue screen. I don't install anything outside of the builtin package manager. I eventually get in to the desktop after messing around with the recovery mode and the other image in advanced settings, but it's not reliable at all and incredibly frustrating.

I was having this with one of the old Nvidia drivers, and switched to the latest tested one in the menu, no difference.

I reinstalled gdm3 in recovery mode too

I was having this with one of the old Nvidia drivers

Sometimes, a kernel update can exceed the installed drivers for some hardware.
The way to resolve this is to use DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support) that clips the drivers to the new kernel after an upgrade.
