i have tryed everything i can to get a startup sound in the startup apt i have play ~/Music/Ubuntu_Startup.mp3 saved and it wont play i have tryed redoing pulseaudio and still the file will not play.. any help at this point will be helpful...and thanks in advance
Hi, just to clarify: are you using a specific program that you've installed to play that sound?
no just removed the zorin stuff that was in the startup and replaced it with "play ~/Music/Ubuntu_Startup.mp3 works
on my ryzen 5900x comp but not the ryzen 5600 comp both have zorin 17.2 pro
this is how it is set on both computers
Are you sure that the path is correct? Because I'm thinking that if you have the file in the system music folder the path should be /home/(your username)/Music/Ubuntu_Startup.mp3. Can you confirm that the file is exactly in /Music?
Yeah, I was going to suggest that. Note that the tilde character (~
) only expands to your user's home directory in the shell. At least, there's no guarantee that other programs might do that, so it's best to always specify the absolute path without placeholders.
And I deleted my suggestion about removing the ~ in my previous message because I thought it was necessary for the correct command execution .
ok ill try changing to home vs using the tildy
its mind boggling....lol
ok i put the original zorin one back in and its not working either im gonna do a fresh zorin pro install
ok the zorin is back working but still cant use sound i want...no biggy its a backup computer works fine on my main computer wonder if it has something to do with wayland vs X11
i finally got it working i replaced the desktop-login with my file and renamed it desktop-login restarted and bam its working i did save the original file as well just in case
final reply.. discovered the actual problem was the secure boot was on for some wierd reason and all my other problems suddenly went away
