Installed Zorin 18 on a flash drive using etcher, put it in my older Mac, re booted the computer, menu shows up clicked on Try or install Zorin, screen goes black
Hello,
What is the model of your Mac?
Model: IMac Intel Core 2
You could try the second option "Try or install Zorin OS (safe graphics)" and see if that makes a difference.
(File Boot not found) comes up before the Zorin menu comes up, once the screen came up I rtied the 2nd option (Safe Graphic)..... blank screen

How is Your USB Stick formatted? Did You tried a different Tool to create the Bootstick?
Formatted new USB as ....Mac OS extended (journaled). Suggestions for another Tool to create Bootstick?? tried USBImager didn't work
Unetbootin worked fine for me in the past from Mac OS X: https://unetbootin.github.io/
I had issues in the past with BalenaEtcher.
Also might be best to format it as FAT32. Mac OS extended, HSF+ is a bit of a proprietary filesystem not natively supported by other operating system.
Tried to format as a fat32, but iMac doesn't recognise the USB Drive
That's so strange, the FAT32 format should be recognised by Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
Did you used the Disk Utility to format the usb drive? Which Mac OS X version do you have?
You could also try exFAT.
It definitely should.
exFAT, however, is better able to handle file sizes as there is a maximum file size limit in the FAT32 file system, which may be the cause of the issue.
Alright, got it to boot....but Error came up "reboot to firmware setup is not supported by the current firmware"
This is a warning, not a error. It means that your EFI mode does not allow a direct reboot into the EFI Firmware (BIOS Settings). Instead, to reach it, you must tap a keyboard key at boot to pull it up. It's quite normal, because you are on a MacBook and Apple restricts that.
