Major issue with standby mode

Hello everyone,

Recently I switched to Zorin 16, and because of college I had to install VMWare Workstation Player.
Everything worked perfectly until that moment, after installing VMWare I just can't enter into standby/sleep mode and the laptop keeps on running while showing terminal with the errors:

rfkill: input handler enabled
fbcon: Taking over console
Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 240x47

The only thing I've done is adding vmnet and vmon to kernel but it was done automatically in the process of installation.

EDIT: I'm not 100% sure it's caused by VMware since Software Updater made some necessary updates that required me to reboot my laptop - so that might be the cause of the issue as well.

I think FrenchPress is the VMWare expert - she will hopefully sort you out but bear in mind it is the season of 'noël' so might be a day or two before she reads/replies to this post.
