Wifi adapter was working just fine for many months. Then upon booting up after a few weeks of no usage on the computer it just didn't work. I get the "No Wifi Adapter Found" message in settings. I did some searching online including here with similar problems but no luck.
I've tried rebooting on two previous kernel versions, no luck, same prob.
I'm pretty inexperienced with Linux but here is some info that might be of use to anyone that may be able to give me some guidance with the problem. One more thing.. I can connect up with slow internet speed via my cell phone, just not Wifi.
Edit: Forgot to mention this is with Zorin 16 Pro on a MinisForum Model UM560xt p/c that originally came with Windows 11. Thanks for any suggestions.
Edit_02: More info that may help (That I totally don't understand )
It is strange that you wifi was working, then not. That often smells of a kernel update wreck.
You say you tried an older linux kernel. Just the one older kernel or did you try others?
From websearch of "unclaimed mediatek wifi Ubuntu 22.04".
@zabadabadoo , thanks for those links, looking into them now. I can also verify that the hardware is working. I booted up on a version of Manjaro from an old Ventoy USB that I made and I can connect to Wifi. Booted it up on open source drivers option.
I haven't been able to work on this problem for the last couple of days.
Got some time today to check it again. I started with a reboot of the oldest Kernel version on the list at bootup: version 5.15.0-97 Generic. That worked. Wifi was working. Then I rebooted using version 5.15.0-100 Generic and it worked also. Then I rebooted on the latest version I have which is -113 Generic and it also worked. I have no idea why it's working now. I did try to make some changes to the file: /etc/modprobe.d/mt7921e.conf per the following post but upon reboot several days ago it still wouldn't work. I then tried booting up on Manjaro via Ventoy stick and the Wifi worked and that's where I left it for a couple of days until today. Anyway it's working today. Thanks for the help @zabadabadoo
Good that your wifi adapter has come out of its coma. Seems a bit of a mystery that running different kernels in order seems to have kicked it into life, but magic sometimes happens. Lets hope it stays well behaved through future kernel updates.
