Tried dual booting with zorin 17.3 pro on a mini computer with an n150 Intel chip and Intel graphics card. Have generic hdmi monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1200.
Zorin only shows 800x600 resolution . Monitor works fine under windows 11 pro. Tried new cable, xrandr, reinstalling Intel driver. Nothing worked. Any ideas?
Hi and welcome. First did you check the validity of the downloaded .iso with its SHA checksum?
You state no issues with Windows 11. Have you disabled Fast Boot and Secure Boot in the BIOS?
Brave A.I. search engine via mojekk suggests (replace Ubuntu with Zorin, and replace GNOME MultiWriter with Ventoy):
" Install Ubuntu 22.04 on NUC
To install Ubuntu 22.04 on an Intel NUC, follow these steps:
- Download the desktop ISO image of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Use GNOME MultiWriter to write the ISO file to a USB flash drive. Insert the USB flash drive into your NUC and ensure it is configured to boot from an external USB device via the BIOS settings or function-key triggered boot menu.
- Boot from the USB flash drive and select the option to install Ubuntu. During the installation, you may need to adjust BIOS settings, such as switching from RST to AHCI in the Storage settings or disabling features like Intel Turbo Boost Technology, to resolve any boot issues.
- Complete the installation process by following the on-screen instructions, including choosing the keyboard layout and network connection. You can opt for a minimal installation if preferred.
- After installation, verify the integrity of the download using the associated MD5SUM file and the
md5sum
command on most Linux distributions.
Ensure your NUC's BIOS and firmware are up to date to avoid potential compatibility issues. Additionally, test the live installer on another computer to confirm the USB is functioning correctly."
Is this an N150 that come out like end of last year / start of this year? If that's the case, then it may be a situation that you need a newer kernel for the chip than Zorin has by default. You could try ubuntu 24.04.2, as that has kernel version 6.11, or another OS with a newer kernel (such as Pop OS) and see if that might be the issue for you. We could always install a newer kernel on Zorin if that's what the issue ended up being.
Welcome to the Forum!
Beneath the other Suggestions here, I would suggest to try it with a Switch to Xorg. To do that, go to the Login Screen (not the Lock Screen). Simply reboot for that. On the Login Screen click on Your Profile so that the Password fiels appears. It has to be appeared. When it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right Corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in and test if it works.
There is a possibility this is firmware issue. Can you tell us exactly what intel graphics card you have?
Xorg didn't resolve issue.
Didn't try the updated kernel but will do so
