Hello, i use automatic dark/light theme but i have this strange behaviour where some apps are somehow locked in dark theme mode: one is the standard photo viewer of zorin os, and some (not all) brave webapps. How can i solve this?

When APPS do their own thing, and don't follow your system setting, that means the APP is a Flatpak. Typically, those APPS I find, are always in bright white, instead of dark mode. Some Flatpak APPs come with their own built in themer, solving that issue. However, simple Flatpak APPS, do not come with built in themer's.
unfortunately default image viewer "Eye of GNOME" is not flatpak, it run always in dark mode!
i can switch it in light mode with "GTK_THEME=ZorinGreen-Light eog".
but as soon as i close and reopen it, it is again in dark mode
You can add this in the command field of its menu entry to make it persistent.
Right click on the Z icon > Edit Menu > Graphics > Image Viewer > Properties
In the command field add the environmental variable like this:
env GTK_THEME=ZorinGreen-Light eog %U
thank you, but i do not want the theme to be always light. i have automatic dark/light theme based on time.
Do You have in Brave chose the GTK Theme Option for the Style? It is in Settings>Appearance at the Top. You can check if maybe the classic Design changes the Behavior.
