Mobile Broadband

I have a bussiness type laptop which includes a tray for a sim card. this has worked from boot-up in windows 10/11. Zorin has installed the nessasary stuff for it, as it shows in the tray, however its greyed out (not clear in the photo)

How do i get it working please

Welcome to the forum!

Can't say I've dealt with a sim card under Zorin much. However, what I think I'm noticing is that you are currently connected to a wireless network at the same time? Is it possible that it defaults to the mobile connection once you disconnect your wifi connection? You could just test quickly by disabling wifi and see what that does.

If that isn't the issue, if you go to Edit Connections... does it show any information for your sim card connection?

If you can't get it to work you could always consider a 4g USB dongle to put your SIM card in such as ZTE MF833 from Amazon.

no its not that, it works like that in windows from the get-go. using wifi will disable the mobile broadband. And if you disconnect wifi you get the option of using the mobile broadband... however after installing zorin, i hadnt even connected to wifi yet. noticed that the UW EDGE connection was there. but greyed out and not clickable. i'll look at the edit connections later when i get back in

i tried a different OS. endeavourOS there was no mobile broadband at all after installation. i tried linux mint. and the mobile broadband worked straight away. which is odd. looks like im sticking to mint, which is a shame, i really wanted to use Zorin
