I use Mullvad VPN on Zorin OS and want to understand how the system-level Proxy setting in the Network Manager interacts with a VPN connection.
Specifically: does a proxy configured at the OS level take precedence over, sit alongside, or get superseded by an active VPN tunnel?
Is there any scenario where a misconfigured proxy could create a false sense of protection — for example, by appearing active while traffic bypasses the VPN, or vice versa?
I want to configure both correctly from the start rather than discover a conflict after the fact.
