Why won't Gnome contact sync with Google Contacts? My Calendar syncs with Google. Doesn't seem to be anyway to connect the Contact to an Google account.

Have you considered adding Google Contacts to Evolution or Thunderbird instead?
Looking at how far back the dates on the bug report go, it appears that this is something that isn't going to get fixed....Just saying.
