My is zoomed in or the ratio is wrong

I’ve had a persistent issue where when I boot up the os it’s on a very small ratio and every icon is large. It’s not a accessibility feature issue I’ve tried to fix it that way and I’m unable to change the ratio in settings.

The previous fix was simply changing the drivers but it comes back and now I can’t even get to the login screen after trying just now. I’m using an Nvidia graphics card if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Which card? It does sound like the drivers are falling back to a generic Nouveau driver...
You can check if you can reach a terminal with

sudo lshw -C video

If it shows the driver as llvmpipe, you are using generic fallback drivers.

Which graphics card you have will determine which drivers you need.

Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? If Windows is still installed: Is Fast Start-Up in Windows disabled? Does You System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Terminal Command echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

I am using a RTX 3070 and it doesn’t show driver as llvmpipe but as nvida

I no longer see a black screen after switching from my display port cable to a hdmi, maybe there was a problem there?
And the screen seems normal, don’t know if it will stay this way like it did before.

I don’t have windows installed, the machine is on X11 and both secure boot and fast boot are disabled.

That could be it. Good on you trying that out.
For me, D.P. works better than HDMI on RTX 3060.
It may be the cable itself...

Then let it on HDMI if possible and look for a while how it behaves. When it is stable, fine.
