Não consigo copiar arquivos para Área de Trabalho

Gostaria de saber se é possivel copiar arquivos diretamente para area de trabalho sem precisar abrir ela pelas pastas.

O que deseja fazer exatamente? Copiar ficheiros de uma área de trabalho e depois colá-los noutra, mas sem a abrir? Este processo parece impossível, ou está escapando-me alguma coisa.

What do you intend to do exactly? Copy files from one workspace and then paste them into another but without opening it? This process seems impossible, or I'm missing something.

I also am having trouble understanding this.

A user can copy files and paste them elsewhere without opening folders by using the mv command with the file paths in terminal.
I do not see how this relates to the use or workspaces however.
